1980 Namco Pac-Man

In 1980 Namco created Pac-Man which is an 8-bit arcade game, it was designed by a japanese game designer, Toru Iwatani, Pac-Man is one of the most iconic and most recognised arcade games of its time. Pac-Man took arcade games to a whole new level since the only games availabe at the time were shooting games such as Asteroids and Space Invaders. As a result it is often referred to as a landmark in video game history.


1978 Tiato Space Invaders

Space Invaders is an arcade game manufactured and distributed by Taito and developed by Tomohiro Nishikado. It was released in 1978. Space Invaders is one of the earliest shooter games as its objective was to shoot down aliens attempting to invade. Space Invaders is a predecessor to modern video gaming and has inspired many other games to this day.

1991 Sega Sonic the Hedgehog

In 1991 Sega developed the game Sonic the Hedgehog, it was created by Yuji Naka, Sonic the Hedgehog is centered around a blue hedgehog named Sonic and is a speed based platform game, its objective was to defeat Dr. Eggman aka Dr. Robotnik and collect golden rings while running through a obstacle filled terrain.  However the success of the character Sonic led to various spin-offs in different genres such as Super Smash Bros, Sonic Golf, Mario and Sonic at the olympics, Sonic Drift and Sonic Jam . Later on the games introduced many other characters such as Knuckles, Tails and Amy. The Sonic titles led Sega to become one of the most leading companies of its time. The Sonic series have sold over 150 million units as of November 2014, making it one of the best selling titles of all time.
